A superb and rare 8 day oak grandfather clock with three train quarter striking movement on bells. The painted square dial with raised centre and painted corners. The lovely oak cabinet showing London case style features.

Description

A lovely early 19th century oak grandfather clock of ‘8’ day duration but with the rare 3 train quarter striking movement. The backplate being also signed Tomlinson.

The fine square painted dial with 4 painted scenes to the corners and a raised convex dial centre. Featuring subsidiary seconds feature to the dial centre.

The fantastic high quality movement striking the quarters on a peal of bells. This is a rare feature on a country clock. I believe Tomlinson was a top quality maker trained in London.

The lovely oak cabinet of good proportions and of London design. Superb colour and paintination. A fine collector’s clock.
