A lovely C1790 mahogany bracket clock, the dial signed Desbois and Wheeler – Grays Inn Passage.
The fine quality ‘8-day’ twin fusee bell strike movement of typical high quality.
Desbois and Wheeler were working from 1790-1835 and produced some of the finest clocks and watches of the Regency period. They had a premises at No 9 Gray’s Inn Passage in Central London. They have various pieces in London museums.
The arched white dial with Roman Numerals and strike silent feature to the arch and lovely shaped delicate iron hands.
Pad top with brass surround, brass ‘fish-scale’ side frets and brass OG feet. Brass surround to glazed front door. Lovely mahogany cabinet of superb colour and patination.
