Fantastic brass and red boulle work to the case. Together with brass case adornments and feet. Maple & Co was first established by John Maple, a shopkeeper, Surrey. He later opened a furniture shop in Tottenham Court Road but it was his son, John Maple, who made Maples & Co be such a huge success. By the time of era of this clock in the 1880s, they were the largest furniture store in the world.
