A superb mahogany three train weight driven longcase clock retailed by Barwise. 20 Duke Street, SW1 and made by Birch & Gaydon Ltd London.

The dome top hood with a glazed panel door. Flanked by three-quarter pillars and with pierced sides.

The 8in. arched brass dial with ‘chime/silent’ subsidiary in the arch. This being above a silvered chapter ring, inscribed JOHN ‘BARWISE, 20 DUKE ST. SW1’. Pierced blued steel hands and with seconds subsidiary. Together on a matted centre with cast and pierced spandrels.

The high quality movement chiming the quarters on a carillon of eight bells. Striking the hours on a gong.The movement with dead-beat escapement and maintaining power feature. Wood rod pendulum, brass encased weights.Signed to the backplate ‘BIRCH & GAYDON Ltd, 153 FENCHURCH STREET EC3 & 20 DUKE ST, SW1’. A stunning collector’s clock.
