A superb 18th century bracket clock by George Clerke or Clerk. He worked from 3 Cherry Tree Court in Aldersgate Street, London. A well respected maker who was in the Clockmakers Company in 1782. In 1786 he was summoned to take up a livery position . He has clocks in famous collections around the world.
This lovely arched brass dial has chapter ring and spandrels. Calendar and finely matted centre to the dial and strike silent feature to the arch.
The movement with finely engraved backplate Original verge escapement and quarter striking on two bells feature. The typical hour strike on a single bell.
The fantastic flame veneered mahogany cabinet with brass adornments. Brass side frets, carrying handle and brass feet. Nice extra adornments to top of clock and to the front door.A real collector’s clock.
