A superb 8 inch dial English mahogany fusee station wall clock, signed John Walker, South Molton St, LONDON, circa 1880.
High quality mahogany case with hinged door on the right allows for inspection, another hinged door with lock and key at the bottom allows access to the pendulum. Cast and turned brass bezel with flat glass.
White painted dial with Roman numerals for the hours, additional red Arabic numerals for the hours in 24-hour format, spade-style blued steel hands.
The indication B.R.(S) is for British Railways (South) and the indication 4109 S.W. is for inventory and district numbers.
Single fusee movement with square plates united by four shaped pillars, anchor escapement. 8 day timepiece movement. Cabinet of superb colour and patination. A highly desirable clock of rare small size.
