This superb quality late 18th century antique grandfather clock with the dial signed by William Johnson of Cheshunt. The fine 5 pillar ‘8-day’ duration movement striking the hours on a single bell.

Beautiful flame veneered mahogany cabinet showing all the high quality London case features. Chamfered reeded sides to the cabinet, the clock standing on a double plinth, the bottom one being finely shaped. High quality moulding to the trunk door. Dome top to the hood with brass locks to the hood and trunk door.

The 12 inch arched brass dial with Roman and Arabic Numerals and silvered. The dial with subsidiary seconds and calendar features, strike/silent to the 3 o’clock position on the dial and rare moonphase to the arch.

A fine collector’s clock of superb colour and patination.
