Antique Grandfather Clock by J Heardman - London

An outstanding '8-day' CHINESE red lacquer work Longcase clock with arched brass dial. The dial with matted centre, chapter ring and spandrels, seconds and calendar.  The case of fantastic design and showing what is believed to be the 18th century important Emperor Qianlong of China sitting on his throne painted on the pagoda top. I believe Qianlong's throne is also decorated with red lacquer work and is displayed at the V and A Museum in London. For more information about this famous person see the link below. A tall elegant North country arch white dial mahogany Longcase clock of '8-day' duration. The dome top cabinet with fretwork beneath,  long crossbanded trunk door and base panel, quarter columns to trunk. The dial with gold leaf decoration and flowers to corners and moonphase to the arch. The movement striking the hours on a single bell.
