A rare French C1900 'Ship's Quarter Deck' Mantel Clock

French Ship
Stunning sailor on the automaton French mantel clock Side view on the Guilmet quarter deck clock movement of French Industrial revolution automaton quarter deck clock

The finest 'Ship's Quarter Deck' clock by Guilmet we have ever seen,in outstanding condition and in gilt brass rather than the more standard bronze, which makes this clock look absolutely superb.

Gong striking movement with the silvered helmsman forming the pendulum, the gilt brass and silvered case in the form of a ship's quarter deck set with a working binnacled compass.Additional sailor down the steps with a coil of rope. The clock being on a stepped black marble base.

The two train movement has the stamp of Guilmet and a stamp for Medaille d'or Paris. The sailor on the top moves back and forth with every tick of the pendulum. A truly outstanding collector's clock.
