An outstanding north country flame mahogany veneered arch brass dial Longcase clock of '8-day' duration. The cabinet of the finest choice mahogany veneers, long trunk door with reeded quarter columns, OG bracket feet and swan neck pediments with pierced fretwork beneath. The dial with chapter ring and spandrels, moonphase with tidal times, seconds, calendar and superbly engraved wavy dial centre. The movement striking the hours on a single bell. Well known Manchester maker. I believe they have found the cottage where this clock maker lived, above the door is the phrase, ' Here lies the cottage of Peter that cunning old fox, who kept the Sun right by the time of his clocks.'
