A superb quality arch brass dial automaton '8-day' London walnut veneered Longcase clock. The cabinet showing all the typical high quality London case features and of outstanding colour and patination. The dial with finely matted centre, seconds and calendar, roman soldiers that strike the bell when the clock strikes to the arch and makers name engraved to cartouche to the arch. The 5-pillar movement striking the hours on a single bell. Fantastic quality choice burr walnut veneers. Rise and fall of the pendulum and strike/silent feature to the arch. This clock appears to have been chosen for a patent, as it says by the order of the patentee to the dial centre on a placque. A very unusual and collectable clock.
