Antique Grandfather Clock by Alexander Cumming - London C.1770

An outstanding '8-day' duration burr walnut veneered arched brass dial Longcase clock of slim proportions. The 10.5inch brass dial with moonphase to the arch, seconds and calendar to dial centre. Finely matted centre with spandrels to the corners.
The cabinet of superb elegant design with the typical good quality London case features. Outstanding faded colour and patination.In G.H. Baillie  Alexander Cumming is listed as a very famous chronometer and clockmaker who was appointed expert by the Act of 1761 on Harrison's timepiece. CC.1781 d.1814 born ca. 1732
